As you work towards optimal health and wellbeing, Co-founder and independent OPTAVIA Coach, Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen, suggests following the “Trilogy Wheel” in Your LifeBook. The “Trilogy Wheel” encompasses the idea that having a healthy body, healthy mind, and healthy finances are the keys to achieving optimal health.

During last month’s Health and Hope Night, we discussed the first aspect of the Trilogy Wheel, a healthy body. This week, we will discuss the second component of the Trilogy Wheel, a healthy mind!

The mind is the control center of your body, in charge of functions like breathing, processing information, circulating blood, and so much more. With your brain sending and receiving signals constantly, increasing your brain health can help improve these functions.

As you prepare for this week’s Health and Hope Night, review these tips before the call:

  • Sleep! Sufficient sleep is crucial to developing a healthy mind. Staying up late on a regular basis or logging less than 8 hours nightly will cloud your ability to think clearly and logically.
  • Awaken your mind. Crossword puzzles, Sudoku, reading, playing cards, or working on a jigsaw puzzle will give your mind a great workout!
  • Meditate. If practiced regularly and on a sustained basis, meditating can benefit your mental wellbeing. It is also linked to reducing stress, enhancing self-awareness, and can ease anxiety.
  • Be social. Spend time with family and friends to lighten your mood and cultivate important relationships. Walking, meeting for a healthy lunch, sharing your recent experiences on plan, or simply catching up will fill your time, get you out, and help identify new perspectives.

For more on the trilogy of health,  RSVP to Health and Hope Night on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, to hear more about putting it into action.

The holidays have come to an end, and 2022 is here! Start the year off by studying Your LifeBook to learn about the Elements and additional healthy choices to advance your true potential.

At the start of this new year, I challenge you to work to make decisions that reflect on your future and who you want to become! As your independent OPTAVIA Coach, I am here to hold you accountable as you work towards achieving your goals this year.

Consider these tips to start 2022 off with a healthy mindset:

  • Reach out to your supportive Community. Connect with the OPTAVIA Community! They have likely been in a similar situation and can help guide you in making positive decisions and keep you on track to your goals.
  • Journal more. Take ownership of your actions and write them down. Then, take a few minutes each day to write a sentence or two reflecting on your day.
  • Drink more water.Try to drink about 64 ounces of water a day* to stay healthy and help fight potential food cravings. Hydration is essential for your optimal wellbeing, which can help you remain responsible and assist you in making better decisions.
  • Get moving. Participate in healthy motion to help guide you along your journey. Not only is healthy motion good for getting your blood flowing and heart pumping, but it is also an excellent tool for clearing your mind and focusing your mind on what is most important to you.

This takes practice but, over time, you will start to see your choices more clearly and have the power to make the choice that moves you closer to optimal wellbeing.

*We recommend drinking 64 ounces of plain water each day. Talk with your healthcare provider prior to changing the amount of water you drink, as it can affect certain health conditions and medications.

Endless Possibilities

Michelle is a single mother of two children and found herself depressed, anxious, and overweight while working long, late hours as a waitress. "I would get ready for work, drop the kids off at their grandparent's house, head to work, and not get off of work until 11 PM."

Michelle was searching for something that allowed her to be proud of herself and provide for her family. One day, she decided to call someone she knew who was a member of the OPTAVIA Community.

She quickly got on plan and began to see significant improvements. "I had more energy to play with my children, and it was so rewarding to get on the scale and see it go down consistently."

Michelle also had the support of her wonderful independent OPTAVIA Coach to hold her hand during times of need and cheer Michelle on whenever she hit her goals. Eventually, Michelle reached her weight loss goal of 50 pounds* and realized anything is possible.

“People at the restaurant didn't even recognize me anymore. I started to believe in myself. I started to know whatever I set my mind to, with a plan, I can achieve anything. I had a conversation with my OPTAVIA Coach, and she opened up the possibility of coaching others to health and wellbeing.”

Michelle accepted the gift OPTAVIA had given her and started to share it with her friends, family, and complete strangers.

*Average weight loss on the Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Plan® is 12 pounds. Clients are in weight loss, on average, for 12 weeks.
