At OPTAVIA, we believe that transforming lives and creating optimal health is achievable. We provide the tools to live your healthiest life. With support, OPTAVIA’s four Optimal Health Components can contribute to a solid foundation for healthy habits.
Last month, we discussed the first component, which is me, your independent OPTAVIA Coach! This week, we will focus on the second Optimal Health Component, the OPTAVIA Community.
The inspiration and backing from OPTAVIA's Community reinforce that with the OPTAVIA program, you will never be on your journey alone! Whether you have a question, or an inspiring quote to share, our Community of like-minded, like-hearted people empower each other through and through.
Support with OPTAVIA’s program comes in many ways – virtual and live events, online support, and even the transformational stories of others! Our Community is an essential asset to your journey to Lifelong Transformation, One Healthy Habit at a Time®.

Welcome back to the continuation of our healthy mindset series! In January, we focused on implementing the MacroHabits of health, creating a calm environment, and practicing forgiveness to lead to a happier and healthier mind.
To kick off the next portion of the series, we will discuss how spending time with friends and family can also lead to developing a healthier mind.
Follow these tips to enhance your relationship with family and friends:
-
Call your loved ones. Pick up the phone and catch up with a friend or family member once a week. Calling your loved ones frequently strengthens your bonds and connection.
-
Family time. Try to dedicate an hour of family time each week, whether you play a game, go for a walk, ride bikes, or just catch up at the dining table over a Lean & Green meal.
-
Be present. Instead of reaching out by text or email, meet up with a friend or family member in person. Put your phone away and truly engage in conversation and your time together. You'll feel closer to those you care about and have better relationships as a result.
-
Get social. There is nothing better than meeting new people, and even if you’re more introverted, there are social groups for every topic. You can join a book club, recreational sports team, painting class, or hiking group to meet new people while doing something you enjoy!
By putting in the time and effort to maintain your relationships, you will enjoy positive returns from these strong connections with the people in your life.
Try to implement some of the recommendations above, including tips from January when we began this series, to develop a healthy mind. Next week we will expand upon setting the external foundation of mindfulness in Part V of our healthy mindset series!

A Newfound Love for Life
Larry found himself defeated and weighed down by his obesity.
“I had no interest in spending time with my family and spent my downtime in my bedroom watching TV. This is how I envisioned the rest of my life.”
One day Larry noticed that his niece had started her health journey. In each photo, she looked happier and healthier. After a few months of watching her progress, Larry called his niece.
She told him about OPTAVIA and how much the program and the support of her independent OPTAVIA Coach had changed her life.
“In looking back, my conversation with my niece changed my life. She talked about the plan she was following - it provided nutrition, support, and a mindset to return to a healthy lifestyle.”
After hearing more of his niece’s story and her strong relationship with her OPTAVIA Coach, Larry jumped in himself with his Coach, started plan, and became involved in the OPTAVIA Client Community. His mindset instantly switched from negative to positive, and he‘s never looked back.
"I have a newfound love for life, for myself, and those around me, mostly because of the OPTAVIA program and the support and guidance from my Coach. I have energy, sleep well, think positively about myself, and I’ve begun to catch up on the things I missed out on when I was too heavy and unhealthy to care.”
Larry was so inspired by his own journey that he’s now an independent OPTAVIA Coach, with the goal to pay it forward by teaching others about the importance of achieving optimal health and wellbeing.
