In Element 04 of Your LifeBook, “Building a Healthy Mindset”, we examined your relationship with yourself and provided tips for becoming more mindful.

Now that you are prepared to take responsibility for your health, it’s important to understand the dynamics of your relationships and interactions with others as they play a critical role in finding optimal health and well-being.

These tips may help optimize your environment and improve your relationships as you continue your journey:

  • Identify your supporters. Identify the people in your life who continuously support your efforts to reach your health goals. Having like-minded people around is a powerful motivator while on your journey.
  • Know your stressors. Taking some time to identify your stressors is the key to enhancing your environment. Once you recognize a challenging situation, plan your response by making adjustments to reduce your stress. Doing so will prepare you to conquer each difficult moment and allow you to continue being your best self.
  • Be conscious of your surroundings. Understanding how they affect your overall health and well-being is critical. One way to raise awareness is to have conversations about them with like-minded individuals such as myself, your independent OPTAVIA Coach, and members of the OPTAVIA Community.
  • Practice patience. Being at peace with the fact that holistic change doesn’t happen overnight is critical (and one of the hardest things to do). However, when you are at ease with slow improvements, and knowing that they will happen, you will feel a weight lifted off your shoulders while implementing positive changes in your life!

Happy Carpe Diem Day!

Yield: 2 servings

Per Serving: 1 Lean, 3 Green, 3 Condiments

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

14 oz. salmon, cut into 2-inch cubes

¾ tsp salt, divided

½ tsp ground black pepper, divided

¼ tsp granulated garlic

1 tsp lemon juice

1 medium zucchini

4 mini sweet peppers

6 small campari tomatoes

Directions

  1. Season the diced salmon with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, the granulated garlic and lemon juice. Set aside and allow to marinate.
  2. Cut the zucchini on a drastic angle into ½-inch thick slices and set aside.
  3. Remove the stems and cut tomatoes in half from top to bottom.
  4. Season the zucchini and tomatoes with ¼ teaspoon of both salt and black pepper.
  5. Cook the zucchini, tomato halves, and whole mini peppers on a hot grill or grill pan on all sides for 6 to 8 minutes until well-browned and fully cooked. Set aside and keep warm.
  6. Cook the salmon cubes in an air fryer at 400°F for 3 to 5 minutes (alternately, cook in a toaster oven at 450°F convection-bake for 5 to 6 minutes).
  7. Divide the grilled vegetables evenly and place them on plates. Arrange 5 ounces of cooked salmon on top of each portion and serve.

Removing the Guesswork for Healthy Living
