As you continue on your path towards achieving and maintaining optimal health and wellbeing, we have additional tools to help you stay in the best condition possible, regardless of your age. Supplementing with vital nutrients as needed can help make sure you are optimizing your nutrition, which plays a crucial role in enhancing your body's efficiency and overall wellness.

It's important to note that nutrients are not akin to medications; they are naturally occurring substances already present within your body. By supplementing them in the right quantities, you empower your body to reach its peak performance.

However, before embarking on any new supplement regimen, consult with your healthcare provider to ensure that your current medications or health conditions will not be adversely affected by nutritional intervention.

Here are some essential supplement guidelines recommended by Co-Founder and independent OPTAVIA Coach, Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen, in Your LifeBook: Element 21*:

  • Incorporate Fish Oil: Consider adding fish oil to your routine. You can achieve this by either consuming 4 ounces of fatty fish three times a week, incorporating 3-6 walnuts daily or taking 1 to 3 grams of omega-3 derived from cold-water arctic fish, with EPA and DHA, 30 minutes before a meal.
  • Daily Multivitamin: Start your day with a daily multivitamin specifically designed for your gender and age group.
  • Benefit from B Complex Vitamins: B complex vitamins work synergistically. Unless you have specific individual needs, it’s generally advisable to take them in the form of a high-potency B complex formula.
  • Supplement with Other Key Vitamins: Consider incorporating any other essential vitamins and minerals that may not be part of your multivitamin and B complex.
  • Embrace Key Minerals: Ensure you’re receiving an adequate supply of key minerals such as calcium, magnesium, selenium and zinc.
  • Combat Inflammation: Inflammation is an often-overlooked aspect of health, but it plays a significant role in our overall wellbeing. Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen's comprehensive approach includes strategies to reduce inflammation as a core component of optimizing your health.

Use these guidelines as a roadmap for the nutritional support that may be needed to address deficiencies while also helping you thrive at your absolute best. Combine these strategies with the anti-inflammatory practices you learned in Element 20 of Your LifeBook to take on the world with renewed vitality and wellness.

*Before starting a weight-loss program, talk with your healthcare provider about the program, and about any medications or dietary supplements you are using, including especially Coumadin (Warfarin), lithium, diuretics, or medications for diabetes, high blood pressure or thyroid conditions.

October 12th is National Farmer’s Day – a day set aside each year to honor the hard-working men and women who’ve dedicated their lives to feeding and supplying our nation.

As we embrace the changing seasons, it's only fitting that we take a moment to celebrate National Farmers Day. This day reminds us of the vital role farmers play in promoting our health and well-being.

In our journey towards optimal health and wellbeing, recognizing National Farmers Day offers a unique opportunity to connect with the source of our nutrition and embrace healthy habits. Here are some meaningful ways to celebrate this special day while staying true to your OPTAVIA journey:

  • Support Local Farmers: Visit your local farmers' market to connect with the farmers in your community. It's a great way to purchase fresh, seasonal produce and support small-scale agriculture.
  • Try a New Vegetable: Farmers' markets often showcase a variety of unique heirloom vegetables. Challenge yourself to try something new and incorporate it into your next Lean & Green meal.
  • Volunteer or Visit a Farm: Many farms welcome volunteers or offer tours. Spending a day on a farm this fall can deepen your appreciation for where your food comes from and the effort that goes into producing it. Engaging in farm activities and mini movements such as picking your own fruits or vegetables, can be a fun and active way to celebrate National Farmers Day.
  • Educate Yourself: Take time to learn about sustainable farming practices and the importance of crop diversity. This knowledge can help you make informed choices about the foods you eat. Consider watching documentaries or reading books on farming and food production to gain a deeper understanding of the industry.
  • Share Your Experiences: Share your National Farmers Day experiences with your OPTAVIA community. Inspire others to make healthier food choices and support local farmers. Use social media to connect with fellow OPTAVIA Clients and share photos and stories of your day celebrating farmers.

National Farmers Day is not only an occasion to enjoy the fruits of the land but also a reminder of the importance of nourishing our bodies with fresh, wholesome foods. So, as you revel in the delicious flavors of the season, take a moment to appreciate the hard work, dedication and love that farmers pour into their crops.

Together, let’s use National Farmers Day as a reminder that by nourishing our bodies with the bounty of the earth, we are nurturing our own health and well-being while supporting our goal to achieve Lifelong Transformation, One Healthy Habit at a Time.

Happy National Farmers Day!

A Journey with OPTAVIA

In a world filled with countless diets and wellness programs, Threva found herself disillusioned. Little did she know that her journey with OPTAVIA would be nothing short of a life-altering revelation.

In January 2022, Threva was at her heaviest. Having tried numerous diets before, nothing seemed to stick. She was stuck in a vicious cycle, neglecting her own wellbeing while prioritizing everything and everyone else. It was a grim period for her, both physically and mentally.

OPTAVIA entered Threva's life like a breath of fresh air. Skepticism loomed large, but something inside urged her to give it a try. It was a decision that would change the course of her life forever.

The first few months were astonishing; she experienced significant weight loss in just nine months*. What set OPTAVIA apart was not just the weight loss, but the profound insight it offered into her own habits and emotions. Threva came to understand that her unhealthy behaviors were rooted in a lack of self-value. She was merely existing, not truly living.

By September, she had reached her initial goal weight, but the journey wasn’t over; her doctor agreed that losing another 15 pounds was an attainable goal. Threva doubted herself, but when she weighed in that October, she had surpassed her target*.

Throughout this journey, Threva’s independent OPTAVIA Coach played an instrumental role. Her Coach’s unwavering support and gentle encouragement were Threva’s pillars of strength. She believed in Threva, even when Threva didn’t believe in herself. Incorporating motion, adopting mini movements and adding yoga classes became a part of Threva’s routine, providing a sense of peace that had been missing from her life.

“The transformation wasn’t just physical; it was a holistic revival.” Threva went from being unable to perform daily tasks, enduring constant pain and battling exhaustion to feeling revitalized and joyful. Her physical changes were so drastic that people who had known her for years couldn’t recognize her.

One day, a stranger in a restroom complimented her, saying she had the “sparkliest eyes”. It was her birthday and those words touched Threva deeply. A year ago, her eyes would have been anything but sparkly – they would have reflected sadness. OPTAVIA not only helped reshape her body but also reignited the spark within her.

Today, Threva is a better version of herself. She’s learned the importance of self-care and the value of prioritizing her well-being, allowing her to love the skin she’s in. Threva has surrounded herself with like-minded individuals and learned to extend grace to others. Her journey inspired those around her, and she couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible support of the OPTAVIA Community.

Here's to embracing life with open arms and celebrating every step of the journey!
